Percepto, a leading provider of autonomous inspection solutions, announced today that the Civil Aviation Authority of Israel (CAAI) has approved the operation of drones beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) at three industrial sites in Israel, including the national water company Mekorot’s Eshkol site. This BVLOS license enables firms deploying Percepto drones to operate without the assistance of an observer.
Percepto achieved BVLOS designation as a consequence of its solution’s demonstrated reliability and the accessible, intuitive nature of its Autonomous Inspection and Monitoring (AIM) system, which was recently recognized by TIME magazine as one of the 100 Best Inventions of 2021. Percepto’s software and autonomous drone-in-a-box solution enable automated drone deployment, enhancing productivity while minimizing hazards, downtime, and operational expenses.
As part of Percepto’s new advanced framework, a new designated operator position, the System Operator, will be introduced. This position will be particularly trained by Percepto and will need substantially less time to get than the existing Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) designation. Customers in Israel will now be able to remotely deploy drones without obtaining the difficult-to-obtain RPIC certification, as well as incorporate automated drone programs in a matter of weeks rather than months, significantly enhancing operational speed and efficiency. Percepto has already benefited from these approvals through both short-term proof-of-concept operations and long-term deployments.
“This sophisticated framework built by Percepto and CAAI ushers in a new age of drone operations in Israel, and we believe it will serve as a worldwide model for other nations to emulate,” said Dor Abuhasira, Percepto’s co-founder and CEO. “Percepto is dedicated to facilitating safe and scalable autonomous drone operations as a member of the FAA’s BVLOS Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC). This recent accomplishment is another step toward that aim, and our Israeli clients can now leverage the power of automation more quickly to make their facilities safer and more efficient.”
